Astralis, BetBoom round out playoff field at CCT Global Finals

Jordan Woodruff Astralis and BetBoom Team wrapped up the Group Stage of the Champion of Champions Tour Season 1 Global Finals by grabbing the two playoff spots in Group D on Monday.
Astralis pulled out a 2-0 win over BetBoom in the Group D winners match, and BetBoom turned around and defeated MIBR 2-1 in the decider match to take second place. MIBR and BIG were eliminated from the tournament.
Those results finalized the field of eight teams that will compete in the playoff stage that begins Tuesday.
The CCT Season 1 Global Finals split 16 teams into four double-elimination groups of four. The top two teams out of each group advanced to a single-elimination playoff bracket. All matches are best-of-three until the grand final on Thursday, which is best-of-five.
The winner will receive half of the $500,000 prize pool.
On Monday, BetBoom began the proceedings with a 2-1 win over MIBR in their opening match. BetBoom sandwiched a 13-9 win on Mirage and a 13-1 rout on Nuke over a 13-0 loss on Vertigo.
MIBR met BIG in the elimination match and prevailed 2-1. They opened with a 13-10 victory on Anubis, suffered a 16-14 overtime loss on Ancient and rallied to win 13-8 on the final map, Vertigo.
Astralis was waiting for BetBoom in the winners match after blanking BIG in their opening match on Sunday. Astralis pulled out two overtime victories over BetBoom, 16-13 on Vertigo and 19-17 on Mirage. Martin ‘stavn' Lund of Denmark starred for Astralis with 59 kills on a plus-12 kills-to-deaths differential.
In the decider match, MIBR took the early lead by winning 13-9 on Vertigo, but BetBoom responded with a 13-6 victory on Ancient. The decisive map was Nuke, where BetBoom eked out a 19-16 overtime win. Russia's Kirill "Magnojez" Rodnov led BetBoom with 69 kills on a plus-19 K-D.
