Houston Astros center fielder Brice Matthews left in the second inning of Sunday's game against the Texas Rangers after running into the outfield wall.

Matthews slammed his back and head against the wall while trying to catch a Josh Jung fly in the bottom of the first. The ball slipped out of his glove after hitting the wall, which allowed Jung to reach third with a triple.

Matthews finished the inning after some attention from a Houston trainer, but manager Joe Espada opted to send pinch-hitter Taylor Trammell to the plate when Matthews' spot in the order came up with two outs in the second.

Matthews, 24, owns a .197 batting average, seven homers and four stolen bases in 81 games this season.
