Athletics' Jacob Wilson listed as day-to-day with bruised hand

Athletics shortstop Jacob Wilson, hit by a pitch on his left hand on Friday, is listed as day-to-day after X-rays were negative.

Wilson exited the game against the Texas Rangers in West Sacramento, Calif., in the bottom of the second inning with what the team termed as a contusion. After the Athletics' 8-3 win, he was dealing with swelling on his pinkie, according to MLB.com.

In the bottom of the first inning, Wilson was plunked on the hand by a 95 mph pitch from Rangers right-hander Kumar Rocker. He was in pain but elected to remain in the contest and later scored on Carlos Cortes' three-run double.

Wilson played in the field in the top of the second inning, but Alika Williams pinch-hit when Wilson's spot in the order came up in the bottom of the inning.

Wilson, 24, is batting .269 with seven homers and 37 RBIs in 79 games this season.

By playing two innings in the field Friday, Wilson extended his major league record without an error for a shortstop to 114 straight games.

The Los Angeles native spent time on the 10-day injured list twice this season, due to left shoulder and right thumb injuries.

Wilson was the starting shortstop for the American League in the 2025 All-Star Game as a rookie.
