Mandatory Credit: Mady Mertens-Imagn Images Alexey Miranchuk scored the game-tying goal in the ninth minute of second-half extra time as Atlanta United notched a 2-2 draw against the visiting Seattle Sounders on Saturday.
Just minutes after Seattle's Osaze De Rosario scored the go-ahead goal in the fifth minute of extra time, Miranchuk netted his fourth goal of the season at the death, sending in a left-footed screamer past diving Seattle goalkeeper Andrew Thomas.
With the score knotted at one apiece, Seattle's Nouhou Tolo's pass into the box was headed by De Rosario for the first goal of the 24-year-old's rookie season.
Miranchuk's subsequent heroics helped Atlanta (4-11-9, 21 points) earn their fourth draw of their last five games. Atlanta totaled 13 shots to Seattle's eight, but Atlanta mustered just three shots on goal and Seattle had just two.
The Sounders (10-6-8, 38 points) were on the verge of their second consecutive victory, but settled for their sixth straight game without a loss.
Trailing by a goal at halftime, Seattle knotted the score in the 54th minute, as Pedro de la Vega connected on his third goal of the season.
Atlanta took a 1-0 lead with just seven minutes into the first half, as Seattle's Yeimar Gomez Andrade's own goal resulted in the eighth time Atlanta has scored first this season. It also marked the fourth own goal Atlanta has benefited from this year.
Atlanta had a pair of chances to double its lead in the 18th minute, with Miranchuk's attempt blocked by Jackson Ragen before Pedro Amador missed wide left.
Andrade's own goal was the only score of the first half.
Seattle will remain on the road, taking on the L.A. Galaxy on Aug. 10, while Atlanta next plays on Aug. 9 at CF Montreal.
