ATP roundup: Dominic Stricker pulls off upset in native Switzerland

Mandatory Credit: Geoff Burke-Imagn Images Swiss wild card Dominic Stricker toppled No. 8 seed Jaume Munar of Spain 6-2, 6-4 before a home crowd at the EFG Swiss Open Gstaad in first-round action on Monday.
Stricker, ranked 360th in the world, beat his top-50 opponent in a tidy 82 minutes as he fired seven aces, converted 5 of 7 break-point opportunities and saved 4 of 6 break points he faced.
No. 7 seed Raphael Collignon of Belgium avoided the upset bug with a 3-6, 7-6 (1), 6-4 comeback over Kazakh qualifier Timofey Skatov, who saved five match points before finally succumbing. Other first-round winners included Miomir Kecmanovic of Serbia, Lorenzo Sonego of Italy and French qualifier Clement Tabur.

Dino Prizmic delighted the home crowd by sailing past Czech eighth seed Vit Kopriva 6-1, 6-3 to kick off the tournament in his native Croatia.
Prizmic went 3-for-3 in saving break points and 4-for-4 in breaking Kopriva's serve. Prizmic won a whopping 24 of his 28 first-service points (85.7%).
Frenchman Luca Van Assche rallied for a 2-6, 7-5, 6-4 victory over Serbia's Dusan Lajovic, while Bosnia and Herzegovina's Damir Dzumhur and Argentina's Marco Trungelliti advanced in straight sets.

In the only main-draw match of the day in Bastad, Sweden, Jesper de Jong of the Netherlands edged Vilius Gaubas of Lithuania 7-6 (1), 7-5.
de Jong fired 15 aces and won a dominant 55 of 77 total service points (71.4%). He went down a break early in the second set but won five of the final six games.
