ATP roundup: Novak Djokovic gets first clay win of '25

Mandatory Credit: Amber Searls-Imagn Images No. 2 seed Novak Djokovic picked up his first clay-court victory of 2025 with a 6-2, 6-3 win Wednesday over Marton Fucsovics at the Gonet Geneva Open in Switzerland.
The Serbian star won Olympic gold at Roland Garros last July but lost his opening matches this year on the surface at both Monte-Carlo and Madrid. He never faced a break point in the 77-minute match and improved to 6-0 against Hungary's Fucsovics.
Djokovic, who turns 38 on Thursday, will continue his quest for his 100th ATP Tour singles title in the quarterfinals against eighth-seeded Italian Matteo Arnaldi.
Top-seeded Taylor Fritz reached the final eight with a 6-4, 7-6 (5) win over Frenchman Quentin Halys. Cameron Norrie of Great Britain was leading 3-6, 6-2, 4-3 over No. 3 seed Tomas Machac when the Czech retired. No. 5 Alexei Popyrin of Australia, No. 6 Hubert Hurkacz of Poland and Austria's Sebastian Ofner all won in straight sets.

Unseeded Frenchman Alexandre Muller knocked out home favorite and top-seeded Alexander Zverev of Germany in a 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (5) slugfest that lasted 2 hours and 41 minutes.
Muller will take on Canada's Felix Auger-Aliassime in just the second quarterfinal of his career at the ATP 500 level or higher. The sixth-seeded Auger-Aliassime defeated France's Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard 6-2, 6-4.
Spain's Roberto Bautista Agut rolled 6-2, 6-3 over No. 2 seed Frances Tiafoe, and Czech Jiri Lehecka bounced No. 4 seed Francisco Cerundolo of Argentina 7-5, 6-2. The upsets continued as Italy's Flavio Cobolli defeated fifth-seeded Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 6-4, 7-5, and Italy's Luciano Darderi outlasted No. 7 Brandon Nakashima 7-5, 6-7 (7), 6-2.
Darderi will face No. 3 seed Andrey Rublev of Russia, a 6-3, 7-5 winner against German wildcard Justin Engel.
