F1 CEO Proves To Best Cro-Magnon Boss In The Business
Until about a week ago, you'd probably never heard of Bernie Ecclestone. This is because you're probably an American, and you don't pay any attention to Formula One Racing, the organization Ecclestone is the president and CEO of. A friend of ours who knows Formula One much better than we do says E...
The Continued Annoyance Of Smart People
What is it about boxing that makes academic and political types all weak in the knees? We think it's because you have to, you know, be a man to be a boxer. Overeducated wonks envy boxing because they work their way up the chain through their pals, their daddies, their fraternity brothers. The man-...

Today In MLB Blogs
We knew it would come to this. Until now, MLB Blogs.com has been somewhat harmless. Annoying, but benign. Yesterday, for instance, we fell asleep while trying to get through "Life in the Slow Lane," a blog about the Kansas City Royals. It was a peaceful slumber, and we dreamed of puppies and free ...
When A Fine Isn't Really A Fine At All
Whenever an athlete does something wrong — skip a practice, get caught with some of that ganja, stab a coach in the face — they end up either be suspended or, more often, having to a pay a fine. Typically, fans scoff at fines; players make so much that a fine is no punishment at all....
We Bring Tiger Here To Bury, Not To Praise, Him
Yet another reason why being a multi-millionaire athlete that people worship all the world over must be a pain in the ass: People are always looking for you to screw up so they can metaphorically punch you in the face. Two golf strokes, over a 72-hole tournament, ultimately isn't much, but in the ...

Legitimate question: Is MSNBC Serious Journalist Anchor Keith Olbermann crazy? We're not really kidding. Last week, ESPN announced that Olbermann, after eight years away from the network, will return to the Worldwide Bleeder to host a show on ESPN Radio. We suppose, in a certain way, this makes s...

Bobby Abreu's Otherworldly Restraint
All right, now, we pay pretty close attention to this sports business. (We do it for a living, after all.) But we'll fess up: We had heard nothing about this Bobby Abreu story from last month. Maybe it's because we don't watch Spanish language TV. But still....
Pujols Nice; Bonds, Not So Much
Our obsession with Barry Bonds remains. Now, we're not saying that Barry Bonds is somewhat of, um, a lesser guy than fellow superstar Albert Pujols, but we were farting around on athlete Web sites today and discovered Albert Pujols.com. Barry Bonds' site and its self-serving nature has been well-...

Tyson Suicide Watch Continues
We really can't handle another Mike Tyson story that's about his damn birds. Yes. We know. He smashes people's heads into mush for a living, he's self-destructive, he's served time for rape, yet he's really into birds. We get it. It's supposed to mean something. It's, like, a metaphor, you see. US...
