Ball State hires Mike Uremovich as head coach
Ball State quarterback Kadin Semonza (3) hands off to running back Braedon Sloan (14) during the third quarter against Vanderbilt at FirstBank Stadium in Nashville, Tenn., Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024. Ball State hired Mike Uremovich to become head coach of the Cardinals on Wednesday.
Previously the head coach at Butler, Uremovich returns to the Mid-American Conference after serving three separate stints over six seasons as an assistant coach at Northern Illinois, most recently as offensive coordinator from 2016-18.
Uremovich also had stops at Temple (2019-21) and North Carolina State (2013-15) at the FBS level. He has worked with current Ball State defensive coordinator Jeff Knowles at those two schools, as well as Butler and Northern Illinois, and could decide to retain Knowles.
Mike Neu was fired Nov. 16 with two games remaining, becoming the first Cardinals head coach to be fired during the season. Ball State was 3-7 at the time of his dismissal and went 40-63 under Neu.
Uremovich was 23-11 at Butler.
