The St. Louis Battlehawks rumbled for 169 yards and two touchdowns on the ground on their way to a 39-13 win over the Brahmas in San Antonio on Friday.

The win moved the Battlehawks to 7-2, a half game ahead of the DC Defenders in the XFL Conference race. The Defenders play at the Houston Roughnecks Sunday before the two XFL leaders face off in the regular-season finale in Week 10 next week.

Max Duggan, who threw for 133 yards, found Frank Darby for a 16-yard touchdown with 19 seconds left in the half to give the Battlehawks a 21-7 lead.

San Antonio (1-8) briefly rallied, as Tristan Vizcaino sandwiched two field goals around halftime to cut the lead to 21-13. But St. Louis outscored San Antonio 18-0 from there, as Kevon Latulas and Jarveon Howard each eclipsed 60 yards on the ground with a touchdown apiece.
