Bears S Douglas Coleman III released from hospital
NFL Chicago Bears defensive back Douglas Coleman III Bears safety Douglas Coleman III returned to Chicago on Friday after being hospitalized overnight in Kansas City.
Coach Matt Eberflus gave an update to 670 The Score on Friday, saying Coleman was walking and in good spirits following a frightening incident in Thursday night's preseason game against the Chiefs.
Coleman, 26, was hurt while making a tackle on the first play from scrimmage in the second half. His neck appeared to snap backward when he made contact with Kansas City wide receiver Cornell Powell.
Coleman was tended to by medical personnel and placed on a stabilizing board before being loaded into an ambulance. Eberflus said after the Bears' 34-21 win that Coleman had movement in his limbs.
Coleman has yet to play in the NFL. He is trying to make Chicago's roster after spending three seasons with the Ottawa Redblacks of the Canadian Football League. He went undrafted out of Texas Tech in 2020 and spent the rest of that year on the Denver Broncos' practice squad.
