Best MLB Bets for August 9th: Top Saturday Baseball Picks & Props
The Saturday MLB card is loaded with player and team props, capped by a huge interleague matchup as the Toronto Blue Jays visit the Los Angeles Dodgers.
We’ll break down three plays for Saturday's action. Monitor the odds throughout the day, as the props and totals market is constantly changing.
Here are the free MLB picks for Saturday, Aug. 9.
Best MLB Plays August 9th
- Los Angeles Angels at Detroit Tigers, F5 under 4.5 runs (-110)
- Chicago White Sox (+113) at Cleveland Guardians
- St. Louis Cardinals RHP Andre Pallante under 3.5 strikeouts (+100)
Angels/Tigers F5 Under 4.5 Runs (-110 at DraftKings)
The Tigers rallied late with three runs in the eighth inning to record a 6-5 win over the Angels on Friday.
The teams easily went over the 4.5 total by combining for seven runs in the first five innings. However, that result may flip in Saturday's matchup at Comerica Park.
The Tigers are on a 10-1 under run in their last 11 games in the first five innings when facing a left-handed starting pitcher.
Left-hander Yusei Kikuchi gets the start for the Angels and has yielded two runs or fewer in the first five innings in seven of his last nine starts.
Right-hander Charlie Morton’s best outing of the season came against Los Angeles, striking out 10 batters in five scoreless innings as a member of the Baltimore Orioles on June 13.
Morton, dealt to the Tigers at the trade deadline, allowed one run in six innings in his Detroit debut on Sunday — a 2-0 defeat at Philadelphia.

Chicago White Sox (+113) at Cleveland Guardians
The Guardians stayed hot Friday, scoring five runs in the top of the first inning and cruising to a 9-5 victory over the White Sox.
Cleveland has won eight of its last nine games and owns a 7-1 record against Chicago this season.
However, this looks like the spot to back the White Sox to end those streaks.
Chicago is 5-1 since the All-Star break against left-handed starting pitchers, scoring at least six runs in all five victories.
Guardians southpaw Joey Cantillo allowed four runs against the White Sox on July 13, but Cleveland pulled out the win in extra innings.
Chicago starter Sean Burke wasn’t bad in his last matchup with Cleveland. The right-hander gave up two runs on three hits in five innings before Cleveland pulled away in a 5-2 victory.
While the public will likely back Cleveland on Saturday, this spot sets up well for the White Sox.

Andre Pallante Under 3.5 Strikeouts (+100 at DraftKings)
The Cardinals rolled to a 5-0 win over the rival Chicago Cubs on Friday.
The Cubs have lost three of their last four games as they face Pallante on Saturday.
Chicago has the second-fewest strikeouts among National League teams against opposing starting pitchers.
In the first matchup with Pallante at Wrigley Field on June 26, the Cardinals hurler recorded just two strikeouts.
Pallante has reached four strikeouts in each of his last two starts but has finished under his strikeout prop in eight of 10 home outings.
