Best MLB Bets for Monday, September 8th: Top Baseball Betting Picks Today
Betting on a few baseball games would be a great way to kill some time before the first Monday Night Football game of the season gets underway. With 11 games on the schedule, you’ve got some choices to make. We can help you with that, of course.
Keep reading and check out our Best MLB Bets list for Monday, Sept. 8.
Milwaukee Brewers vs. Texas Rangers
Both teams have solid starting pitchers taking the mound to start the day in Jose Quintana (11-5, 3.72 ERA) and Jacob Latz (1-0, 3.15 ERA). Latz has served more as a reliever with 28 appearances (including the five starts) spanning 68 2/3 innings with a 1.28 WHIP and .227 OBA.
Each team also has a solid bullpen (Texas—3.72 ERA; Milwaukee—3.81 ERA). Texas has hit a dismal .200 over the last week; Milwaukee has hit .266.
Our Pick: UNDER 8.5 runs at -115
I’m a little concerned about Milwaukee’s lineup, but Latz has been up to the challenge (so far). He’ll keep the Brewers from scoring too many. With how poorly Texas has been hitting, Quintana should have no problem keeping them from scoring much (if at all).

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Seattle Mariners
Seattle isn’t in a must-win situation today; it’s more of a should-win. Their lineup has gone off the last two nights, outscoring the Braves in Atlanta 10-2 and 18-2 in the last two games. They have a good chance of keeping that momentum vs. the Cardinals with Miles Mikolas starting for St. Louis.
Mikolas is 7-10 with a 4.89 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, and .274 OBA, but he’s struggled on the road (6.79 ERA, .327 OBA). Bryan Woo (Mariners) is one of the better young pitchers in the game (12-7, 3.02 ERA, and .207 OBA). Woo has been even harder to hit at home (.177 OBA).
Our Pick: Seattle -1.5 runs at +100
With Seattle hitting .275 over the last week and St. Louis hitting .220, the Mariners should be able to win this one comfortably with Woo on the mound.

Boston Red Sox vs. the Athletics
The Red Sox need to keep winning to protect their precarious hold on one of the NL Wild Card spots, but that will be easier said than done against the A’s today.
Boston is giving their ace, Garret Crochett, the ball to start the day. He’s gone 14-5 in 28 starts with a 2.67 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, and .225 OBA. The A’s are giving Luis Morales the start; the youngster is 3-0 in five starts (six appearances) with a .99 WHIP and .172 OBA.
Both teams have been hitting the ball well over the last week, Athletics—.300 and the Red Sox—.292.
Our Pick: UNDER 9 at -122
Either the lineups will wake up and beat up one or both of these pitchers, or the pitchers will dominate a low-scoring game. I’m going with a ‘low scoring’ game.
