Best MLB Bets for Sunday September 21st: Top Baseball Betting Picks Today
More teams have been eliminated and others have secured spots, but there is plenty left undecided in the MLB playoff chase.
We might not know until we reach the finish line who will slide into the postseason as a wild card. With so much up in the air, expect managers and players to show they’re all-in, resulting in great games for our best MLB bets list for Sunday, September 21. (odds via FanDuel)
New York Yankees vs. Baltimore Orioles
Baltimore has had a hard time putting runs on the board, scoring just 17 over their last seven games and hitting .210. The Yankees, by comparison, have scored 39 over their last seven games. However, both teams will have a solid pitcher on the mound to start the day.
Kyle Brandish (Orioles) has allowed six runs across four starts with at least one run in each game.
Cam Schlittler has been solid this season (3-3 with a 3.41 ERA), but he has struggled this month, giving up nine runs across three starts.
Our Pick: UNDER 8.5 runs at -115
My gut is telling me to go with Baltimore to win, but I think both starters can take charge and keep this score low.

Cleveland Guardians vs. Minnesota Twins
With an 8-0 win over the Twins Saturday, Cleveland has won its last ten games. To try and make it 11 in a row, they’ll give the ball to Joey Cantillo to start the day. Cantillo has a 0.95 ERA across three starts in September.
Simeon Woods Richardson has had a good season for the Twins and is 2-0 in three starts this month with a 2.81 ERA. However, he can’t count on his lineup to show up, as Minnesota is averaging less than four runs per game over the last week.
Our Pick: Cleveland -1.5 at +132
Every hot hand eventually cools off and loses, but this matchup does not look like it could be that game — unless the Guardians implode.

Washington Nationals vs. New York Mets
Jake Irvin (Nationals) has given up 35 home runs this season and has a 6.15 ERA on the road. Sean Manaea has been better at home with a 4.30 ERA, but his overall numbers (5.40 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, .257 OBA) remain shaky. He is 1-1 in three outings this month with a 6.59 ERA.
The Mets have been hitting well, batting .271 over the last week. Washington, on the other hand, is at just .210. With how poorly Irvin has been pitching, there’s a chance New York goes over this total on its own. While I don’t expect that, the Mets should do most of the work, with the Nationals scoring just enough late to push the final total over.
Our Pick: OVER 8.5 runs at -114
