It might not — yet — have the online fanaticism and cachet of baseball, but the NFL and its fans are starting to catch up in the world of team-devoted blogs. To this end, Deadspin salutes these modem-addled souls and proudly presents Blogdom's Best, given to the most outstanding blog for each NFL team. There are fewer than there are for baseball, but they're out there, if you look. If you would like to nominate a blog (yours, even) for selection, just let us know at [email protected]. Today: The New York Jets.

We knew there would be trouble as soon as Jets fans learned to use computers. That may have happened only two or three years ago, but it happened, and the Jets Faithful have been hammering the home team ever since. Hey, it's New York — if you don't have something nice to say about somebody, say it loudly enough so that the guy down at the end of the bar can hear it too. Jets fans were born with chips on their shoulders. Their team hasn't won a Super Bowl since 1969 and has been in the running really only three times since. Even their team curse is second-rate: The Curse of Broadway Joe. What kind of curse is that? The guy is still living, and by all accounts fond of the team. In summation, the Jets helmet logo should be a panic button, and their blog community reflects that. Here's the best: 3. JetNation.com. You gotta love a football blog that posts nearly every day, keeps tabs on the entire league, uses four writers and says things like: "Herman Edwards is good for handing out Shrek ears." We're not sure what that means, but it's still funny. 2. The Cockpit. They don't post as often as we'd like, but they keep a sharp eye out for all things Jets, and exhibit a healthy skepticism that is required to be a Jets fan. Great news site. 1. The Jets Blog. Worth the trip just for the Fan Confidence Meter alone. The ultimate word in Jets Blogdom, with daily posts, an eye on all Jets media and a green-tinted outlook that may or may not reflect nausea. (Tuesday: The Jacksonville Jaguars)
