Blue Jays starter Cody Ponce carted off after fielding injury

Mandatory Credit: Kevin Sousa-Imagn Images Toronto Blue Jays starter Cody Ponce left the field on a cart after being injured while attempting to field a ground ball in the third inning Monday against the visiting Colorado Rockies.
Ponce fell to the ground in pain as a run scored from third. He was helped onto the cart with an apparent right leg injury.
It was not only Ponce's Blue Jays debut, but also his first major league appearance since 2021 after pitching in Japan and South Korea.
The right-hander, 31, entered the day 1-7 with a 5.86 ERA in 20 career MLB appearances (five starts) for the Pittsburgh Pirates (2020-21).
Louis Varland entered the game in relief of Ponce.
