Bo Bichette fuels Mets' 8th-inning rally to top Giants

Bo Bichette hit the go-ahead three-run homer to cap a four-run, eighth-inning outburst as the host New York Mets stormed back to beat the San Francisco Giants 4-2 Sunday afternoon in the rubber game of a three-game series.

Brett Baty opened the eighth with a pinch-hit homer for the last-place Mets (65-78), who have won six of 10 series since dealing eight major leaguers at the trade deadline.

Jung Hoo Lee had a two-run single in the fourth for the Giants (59-85), who have dropped four of their past six games.

The Mets had just four hits through seven innings against Cesar Perdomo and Joel Kuhnel before rallying against Carson Seymour (0-2).

Following Baty's second career pinch-hit home run, A.J. Ewing singled and moved to second on Luis Torrens' bunt. Ewing, the only player Sunday to record multiple hits, tagged up and went to third when Lee made a sliding grab to rob Francisco Lindor of a hit to right.

Juan Soto was intentionally walked to bring up Bichette, who hit an 0-1 pitch 412 feet into the left field seats for his second homer of the series and his sixth round-tripper in his last 29 games. Bichette homered 10 times in his first 112 games.

The rally made a winner out of Tobias Myers (1-2), who threw a one-hit eighth inning hours after being recalled from Triple-A Syracuse. Kodai Senga recorded his sixth save in as many tries by whiffing one in a perfect ninth.

Mets starter Christian Scott allowed the two runs on four hits and no walks while striking out seven over 4 2/3 innings.

Scott set down the first 11 batters he faced before the Giants scored their runs in a six-pitch span in the fourth, when Bryce Eldridge and Jonah Cox singled before scoring on Lee's hit to right.

Perdomo, making his second big-league appearance and first start, gave up just three hits and walked one while striking out four over six innings. The Mets didn't get a runner beyond first against the 24-year-old southpaw.
