Mandatory Credit: Denny Medley-Imagn Images The Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday activated outfielder Christian Yelich from the 10-day injured list ahead of their series opener with the San Diego Padres in Milwaukee.
Yelich, 34, has missed the last month with a left groin strain. He last appeared in an April 12 loss to the Washington Nationals. Before that, he was batting .314 with 10 RBIs and a home run.
In a corresponding move, the Brewers also optioned utility man Tyler Black to Triple-A Nashville.
Black, 25, has appeared in nine games for the Brewers this season and 32 over the past three years. He has a .250 batting average over 98 career plate appearances.
The National League MVP in 2018 and a three-time All-Star, Yelich returns to the Brewers without a minor league rehab assignment.
