Brewers activate INF David Hamilton from IL

Mandatory Credit: Joe Puetz-Imagn Images The Milwaukee Brewers activated infielder David Hamilton off the injured list Friday and designated infielder Braden Shewmake for assignment.
Hamilton was in the starting lineup at third base and batting ninth Friday for the series opener against Colorado. Hamilton, who was placed on the 10-day IL on July 7 with a strained left hamstring, is hitting .240 with three homers, six doubles and 15 RBIs, along with 18 stolen bases.
The versatile Hamilton has appeared in 74 games, including 65 starts, with 36 starts at third base, 25 at shortstop and four at second base.
Hamilton played in two rehab games at Triple-A Nashville with one hit in seven at-bats.
Shewmake, acquired from Houston on July 12, appeared in four games for Milwaukee, hitting .286 (2-for-7) with one double, one RBI and one steal.
