Mandatory Credit: Susan Mullane-Imagn Images Britain's Jack Draper withdrew from Wimbledon on Monday, the latest setback in an injury-plagued season.
He pulled out just 24 hours before his first-round match at the All-England Club due to a recurring arm injury. He was scheduled to face No. 6 seed Taylor Fritz on Tuesday.
"I'm devastated," Draper wrote in a statement. "... There have been a lot of painful moments in the last 12 months, but this one is definitely the absolute worst as there is no greater honour for a British player than playing at Wimbledon."
Draper, 24, missed the French Open earlier this season while dealing with a right knee issue but appeared to be in form heading into the grass-court Grand Slam. He reached the semifinals at the Eastbourne Open last week in his first event since Barcelona in mid-April.
Draper, who peaked at No. 4 in the world rankings in June 2025, has plummeted to No. 131. The three-time ATP Tour winner has never made it past the second round at Wimbledon. His best finish in a Grand Slam was his semifinal appearance at the 2024 U.S. Open.
He discussed his injury issues, including bone bruising in his serving arm, with the media at Wimbledon on Sunday.
"It's been an incredibly long process," he said. "It's taken a lot out of me mentally coming back and back and back."
