Brooks Koepka joins TGL's Motor City Golf Club

Five-time major winner Brooks Koepka became the first player named to the Motor City Golf Club's inaugural TGL roster on Wednesday.

The former World No. 1 joins the tech-infused indoor golf league's first-ever expansion team ahead of its third season in 2027.

Koepka, 36, got a firsthand look at TGL action when he visited the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., for a match in February 2025.

"I've had the chance to attend TGL matches, and they bring something completely new to the game. The energy, pace and team atmosphere at SoFi Center really stood out, and it's something I wanted to be part of," Koepka said in a team press release.

"I've also enjoyed getting to know the Motor City Golf Club ownership group and have been impressed by its commitment to building a winning team. I'm excited to compete alongside my teammates and bring a championship to Detroit."

Motor City GC's ownership group is led by Middle West Partners principals Michael Hamp, Peter Hamp and Kevin Kelleher, all of whom have Detroit roots. The same group also owns Motor City Golf Club in WTGL, the new women's team golf platform.

"Brooks has built his career around performing at his best when the stakes are highest," said Michael Hamp, team governor for Motor City. "His competitive edge, toughness and championship pedigree fit the identity we are building for Motor City Golf Club and the city we represent. We could not ask for a stronger foundation as we begin assembling our inaugural roster."

Koepka's teammates will be announced in the coming months.

Atlanta Drive GC won the inaugural SoFi Cup in 2025, and Los Angeles Golf Club claimed the championship in 2026. The other teams in the league co-founded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy are Boston Common Golf, Jupiter Links Golf Club, New York Golf Club and The Bay Golf Club.

Koepka, who rejoined the PGA Tour this year after leaving LIV Golf, won back-to-back U.S. Opens in 2017-18 and is a three-time winner of the PGA Championship (2018, 2019 and 2023).
