The 2020 first-round draft pick landed on injured reserve on Nov. 7 with an MCL injury in his right knee. There had been hope that he might be able to return this season.
Wills underwent arthroscopic surgery with team physician Dr. James Voos at University Hospitals Drusinsky Sport Medicine Institute in Cleveland.
A full recovery is expected in time for the 2024 season, the Browns said in a team statement.
Wills was injured in a 27-0 win over the Arizona Cardinals on Nov. 5 when running back Kareem Hunt was tackled and landed on the back of his right leg. He was carted off the field with his leg in an air cast and did not return.
Wills, 24, started the first eight games this season and has made 53 career starts since the Browns drafted him 10th overall in 2020.
