The Bucs have dealt with a plethora of injuries, but they’ve still found a ton of offensive success. They rank seventh in points (.448) per play thus far. They’re also averaging a healthy 27.5 points per game in 2025.

Both of these teams have seen mixed results defensively early this season. Detroit ranks 20th in the NFL in points allowed (.406) per play, while Tampa Bay ranks 22nd in the same category (.421). Overall, they’re combining to allow 48.9 points per game this season.

We know that both teams are willing to turn their games into shootouts. The Lions and their opponents have combined for 60+ points in three of their six games this season. They also combined for a ridiculous 73 points against the Chicago Bears and 68 against the Baltimore Ravens.

The Bucs haven’t gotten into the same number of blowouts as Detroit, but they’ve still flashed that overall upside this season. They combined for 73 points against the Seattle Seahawks only a couple of games ago.

We know the Lions are a dominant offense at home. They’ve flashed elite upside in Detroit this season, but they were also dominant there last season. They have a massive edge when they’re playing at home, and the Bucs aren’t a team that is going to be able to slow them down.

The key here is how good Tampa Bay is on the road. Most teams find more offensive success at home, but the Bucs have been very similar on the road. They were also drastically better outside of Tampa Bay in 2024.

The Lions continue to deal with a plethora of injuries throughout their defense, while the Bucs are potentially getting healthier. It looks like Mike Evans will return this week, and Emeka Egbuka could potentially play.

I have concerns about the pace in this game, but these offenses are far superior to the defenses. We should see plenty of points in this game.
