With this summer's World Cup fast approaching, Canada captain Alphonso Davies will be sidelined several weeks with a left hamstring injury.
The 25-year-old Bayern Munich left-back sustained the injury in Wednesday's Champions League semifinal against Paris Saint-Germain, the Bundesliga club confirmed Friday.
Canada Soccer said it will remain in close contact with Davies and Bayern's medical team in Germany.
"Our focus is supporting his recovery and providing every available resource, including specialized soft tissue expertise, to give him the best possible pathway back to full fitness ahead of the FIFA World Cup," said a statement from Canada Soccer.
Davies has scored 15 goals in 58 career caps with Canada, including the country's first-ever goal at a World Cup at the 2022 tournament in Qatar. He is a two-time Concacaf Player of the Year (2021, 2022).
Co-host Canada is in Group B for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and opens play on June 12 in Toronto against Bosnia and Herzegovina. Canada will play Qatar on June 18 and Switzerland on June 24, with both matches in Vancouver.
