Canadiens acquire F Brett Berard from Rangers

The Montreal Canadiens acquired forward Brett Berard from the New York Rangers on Friday in exchange for defenseman prospect William Trudeau.


Berard, 23, was held off the scoresheet in 13 games last season and has recorded 10 points (six goals, four assists) in 48 career games with New York since being drafted in the fifth round in 2020.

Trudeau, 23, was a fourth-round pick by Montreal in 2021 and spent the past four seasons with the Laval Rocket of the American Hockey League. He had 20 points (eight goals, 12 assists) in 62 games in 2025-26.
