Mandatory Credit: David Kirouac-Imagn Images Montreal Canadiens captain Nick Suzuki will miss two to four weeks with an upper-body injury, the team announced Thursday.
The recipient of the Frank J. Selke Trophy last season as the best defensive forward in the NHL, Suzuki was injured while blocking a shot with his hand in Montreal's 4-3 overtime loss to the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday.
The injury will end his 546-game ironman streak dating back to his rookie season in 2019-20.
Suzuki, 27, has a team-leading 12 points (five goals, seven assists) in nine games this season.
Last season, he scored 29 goals and set career highs with 72 assists and 101 points while playing all 82 games for a fifth straight season.
