Cardinals right-hander Ryne Stanek left Tuesday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers in the seventh inning after the St. Louis reliever appeared to jam his foot or ankle into the first base bag while trying to cover on a bunt single by Joey Ortiz.

Stanek, who threw an inning in Monday's 4-3 loss, had just entered the game after newcomer Bruce Zimmerman threw five innings in relief in the first game of a doubleheader.

Stanek's departure comes less than 24 hours after Justin Bruihl left Monday's game with a sprained right ankle.

The 34-year-old Stanek is in line for the loss after allowing a walk and the bunt single. Christian Yelich's double later in the inning gave Milwaukee a 4-3 lead.

Stanek entered the game with a 2-1 record and 4.67 ERA in 38 appearances.
