Mandatory Credit: Kiyoshi Mio-Imagn Images The St. Louis Cardinals scratched All-Star right fielder Jordan Walker from Tuesday's game against the host New York Yankees with right knee inflammation.
He was pulled out of the lineup about an hour before the second game of the Cardinals' three-game series against the Yankees and Walker was set to miss his third game of the season.
Walker was scheduled to bat second. Nelson Velazquez replaced Walker in right field and designated hitter Ivan Herrera was moved up one spot in the lineup to bat second.
The 24-year-old Walker is hitting .285 with 22 homers and 81 RBIs this season. At last month's home run derby, he beat Philadelphia's Kyle Schwarber in the final round to claim the title.
Walker went 2-for-5 with a triple, one run scored and two strikeouts in the Cardinals' 13-7 win over the host Yankees on Monday.
St. Louis selected Walker with the 21st overall pick of the 2020 MLB Draft.
Walker is a career .254 hitter with 49 homers and 193 RBIs in 390 games since 2023.
