Boston Celtics star forward Jaylen Brown is considered day-to-day with a left hamstring injury that he sustained in Wednesday's preseason finale against the Toronto Raptors.

Brown didn't participate in live portions of Friday's practice and coach Joe Mazzulla didn't answer a question pertaining to whether Brown will play in next Wednesday's season opener against the Philadelphia 76ers.

"I expect him to be at his best every single day, and then we'll take it from there," Mazzulla told reporters. "But just one day at a time."

Brown grabbed his left hamstring midway through the first quarter of the 110-108 win over the Raptors. He exited the floor and didn't return to action.

Brown, 28, will be in the lead role this season for Boston with Jayson Tatum (Achilles) slated to miss most of the season.

The four-time All-Star averaged 22.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and a career-high 4.5 assists over 63 games last season. Brown has played in 70 games just once over the past six seasons.

In nine seasons with Boston, Brown has averages of 19.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 603 games (496 starts).

Brown etched his name into franchise lore in 2024 when he was NBA Finals MVP as the Celtics defeated the Dallas Mavericks in five games.
