Chiefs QB Alex Smith Leaves Game After His Head Bounces Off The Turf [Update]
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith is being evaluated for a concussion after taking a hit to the head in today’s game against the Indianapolis Colts.
The injury occurred in the first quarter when Smith chose to run with the ball. Colts linebacker Edwin Jackson hit Smith as he slid, and the QB’s head bounced off the turf.
Teammate Spencer Ware tried to pick up Smith and get him ready for the next play, but officials made Smith go to the sideline. Nick Foles came in at QB for Kansas City.
Update (1:51 p.m. ET): Smith has been cleared and is questionable to return.
Update (3:08 p.m. ET): Once again, Smith is out of the game after he slid on a play. Colts safety Clayton Geathers bounced Smith’s head off the turf. The quarterback left the field.
Update (3:15 p.m. ET): Smith is done for the day.
