Commanders part ways with DE Clelin Ferrell

The Washington Commanders released defensive end Clelin Ferrell on Tuesday.
The fourth overall pick of the then-Oakland Raiders in the 2019 NFL Draft, Ferrell recorded 26 tackles and a forced fumble while starting 10 of the 14 games in which he played last season for the Commanders.
Ferrell, 28, will become an unrestricted free agent.
Ferrell has 159 tackles, 17 sacks and four forced fumbles in 89 games (57 starts) with the Raiders (2019-22), San Francisco 49ers (2023) and Commanders.
NFL teams are required to reach the NFL regular-season roster limit of 53 players on the active roster Tuesday. Most started training camp with the maximum offseason limit of 90-man rosters.
