Commanders waive the cheese: LS Camaron Cheeseman gone over botched snap

Long snapper Camaron Cheeseman was cut by the Commanders on Monday after his latest in a string of botched snaps.
A sixth-round pick in 2021 that Washington traded up to select, Cheeseman skipped a snap in the closing minutes of the first quarter to punter Tress Way in Sunday's loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Way pounced on the ball and was hurt when Rams linebacker Troy Reeder landed on top of him trying to make the recovery.
Way went to the locker room to be examined for a concussion. He has been cleared to practice Monday.
With 1:46 left in the game and the Rams leading 28-20, Cheeseman's placement snap for the extra point following Jacoby Brissett's 3-yard touchdown pass to Curtis Samuel was short of the holder and Joey Slye's PAT try was blocked.
In the postgame locker room Sunday night, Cheeseman admitted he was worried about his roster spot.
"I've been worried all year. I haven't been performing the way I want to," he said. "Most places I wouldn't be around still so I'm taking every week as it is. Every day is a job interview and you've got to perform."
