Mandatory Credit: Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports Corey Seager hit a three-run home run in his return from a four-game absence and the visiting Texas Rangers held on for a 3-2 victory against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday.
Seager, in his first regular-season game at Los Angeles since leaving the Dodgers via free agency after the 2021 season, had been hobbled by a left hamstring strain.
Jon Gray, Jacob Latz (2-1) and Jose Leclerc each pitched multiple innings for the Rangers, who won for just the third time in their past eight games.
Rangers right-hander Kirby Yates put two runners on in the ninth and the Dodgers' Jason Heyward hit a line drive toward the gap in right-center. Will Smith scored but Andy Pages was thrown out at home for the final out. Yates recorded his ninth save.
Shohei Ohtani hit a first-inning home run for the Dodgers. Walker Buehler (1-4) gave up three runs (two earned) over five innings with two strikeouts and one walk. Buehler has just one win in seven starts since returning from a nearly two-year absence after his second Tommy John surgery.
Los Angeles was held to two runs after scoring a season-high 15 runs in a series-opening victory over Texas on Tuesday.
The Dodgers looked like they would continue their offensive flow when Ohtani hit a home run in the first inning, his 17th of the season and his second in two games against Texas. Gray and Latz held Los Angeles in check until Seager went deep to give the Rangers the lead in the fifth.
Leody Taveras hit a one-out single and Marcus Semien reached base on a fielding error by Dodgers third baseman Cavan Biggio, who was acquired in a trade from the Toronto Blue Jays earlier Wednesday.
Seager then unloaded on a 3-2 fastball from Buehler, hitting the ball halfway up the right field bleachers. It was Seager's 60th career regular-season home run at Dodger Stadium.
Biggio went 1-for-3 while batting ninth for the Dodgers.
