Fox sportscaster and potty-mouthed vixen Danyelle Sargent went on Dan Patrick's SI radio show this morning, sounding beleaguered and contrite for her embarrassing Bill Walsh slip-up that unfortunately made the airwaves on Sunday and unleashed the wrath of Mike Francesa. This is her quote from Patrick's show via The Big Lead:
"Yesterday was bad. I had a migraine headache and stayed in bed for five hours … but there's people in the world with real problems, and I am pathetic if I keep on dwelling over this. It's embarrassing, but I can't sit around and give up because of this … I didn't even realize I misspoke. The producer said something in my ear, and we did it again. I spent that night in San Francisco with my boyfriend who lives up in that area. When I got back to LA, I got a text message saying, "oh, hang in there" and I said, ‘what are you talking about?' And I called them and said, ‘how did that make air?' I tried to avoid the internet like the plague for the next five hours."
Sargent seems like a nice woman, just trying to make some sort of headway in the sideline princess arena, who's unfortunately made more of a name for herself for her "WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT?" and reanimating Bill Walsh than anything else at this point in her career. But Fox is backing her, telling the San Jose Mercury News that Francesa's show illegally aired that footage:
We've filed a complaint with the league of them using this. It's unauthorized footage," [Senior V.P of communications Dan] Bell said. "It's footage that was recorded but that never made our air." Bell added that "if we saw that on a CBS game, we're not going to take that and have one of our stations run with it."
Maybe Fox should just consider putting Sargent on permanent 7-second delay from now on or giving her a piece of tape to put over her mouth when there's a hot mic nearby. She's like the Petey Greene of sideline reporters. Danyelle Seargent Speaks! [The Big Lead] Fox Reporter's Bill Walsh Gaffe Wasn't Supposed to Make Air [SJMN] PHOTO: Mo' Kelly Report
