Mandatory Credit: Thomas Shea-USA TODAY Sports The San Diego Wave and host Houston Dash, two teams desperate for a positive result, settled for a 0-0 draw Saturday night, extending their various levels of futility.
There was some late-match drama, with Dash defender Natalie Jacobs making a goal-line clearance to help preserve the clean sheet.
Houston goalkeeper Jane Campbell was busiest by making three saves.
San Diego was blanked for the second time in its last 10 matches. The other time was also a 0-0 road final against Angel City on May 23.
The Wave (3-5-6, 15 points) have a seven-match winless streak, going 0-2-5 in those matches.
Houston (3-6-5, 14 points) was involved in its second consecutive 0-0 result, though it wasn't unusual to have a zero on at least one side of the scoresheet.
The Dash have been involved in seven consecutive matches that have ended with at least one team shutout, coming in either wins, losses or, in the case of the most recent outing before Saturday, a draw with Angel City.
San Diego goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan was called upon for one save.
The Wave had three of the first half's four shots on goal. Sheridan's lone save came on a driving stop of Diana Ordonez's attempt less than 10 minutes into the match.
