D.C. United faces C.F. Montreal looking to extend unbeaten streak to six matches

D.C. United forward Tai Baribo will look to continue his scoring streak as the club heads north for a match against CF Montreal on Saturday night.

The Israeli leads D.C. United with 11 goals this season and has scored in four consecutive matches. The 28-year-old is also three-for-three from the penalty spot this season.

"He's so hungry to score goals, and he's really strong in the box," said head coach Rene Weiler. "Very direct and he's a real scorer. He knows how to score goals -- not hesitating."

D.C. United will look to stretch its unbeaten streak (1-0-4) to six matches. The Black-and-Red (5-5-8, 23 points) have points in 10 of their last 11 matches and head to Montreal in search of their first road win since May.

"We're looking forward to playing a tough team," said defender Silvan Hefti, who scored his first career MLS goal in the 2-2 draw with Nashville SC on August 1. It will not be an easy game, but we're preparing well, and we are very positive."

The two clubs met on May 23, playing to a 4-4 draw south of the border.

D.C. United is 10-10-12 across 32 MLS regular season meetings between the sides, including a 4-7-5 record in Montreal.

Montreal (4-10-4, 16 points) hopes the signing of designated player Alexis Sanchez can boost the club as it looks for its first win since a 2-0 decision over Orlando City on May 9.

Sanchez, who has played for FC Barcelona, Arsenal FC, Manchester United, Inter Milan and Olympique de Marseilles, signed with Montreal through the 2027 season, with a club option for the 2027-28 season.

"Alexis possesses exceptional technical quality and experience at the highest level of world football," said Luca Saputo, Montreal's managing director. "We are of firm belief that he will have an immediate impact both on the field and in the locker room."

Montreal, which has won just two of nine home matches this season, is led by German forward Prince Owusu, who has 10 MLS goals this season.
