DePaul aims to recapture last season's dominance of Georgetown

However, that hasn't been the case against Georgetown of late.
Looking to build on their first league win of the season, the Blue Demons eye a fourth consecutive victory over the visiting Hoyas on Tuesday night in Chicago.
DePaul (9-6, 1-3) is playing its 21st season as a member of the Big East, and has recorded just one winning campaign in conference play. The Blue Demons have not won more than seven league games in each of the previous six seasons.
However, half of DePaul's four Big East wins in 2024-25 came against Georgetown, and it also beat the Hoyas in the first round of the conference tournament.
That could give the Blue Demons some potential confidence entering Tuesday, along with the momentum built from Saturday's 86-77 home win over league foe Xavier.
CJ Gunn had 22 points as the Blue Demons made half of their 52 shot attempts and held the Musketeers to 40.6 percent shooting from the field.
"It's a great feeling (to get that first Big East win)," said Gunn, who has averaged 15.5 points in the last six contests.
"We've really been fighting and inching our way towards one this year."
Gunn averaged 15 points in those three games against Georgetown last season.
The Hoyas (9-5, 1-2) opened Big East play with a 78-69 win at Marquette, then lost to Xavier and St. John's, the latter on New Year's Eve. KJ Lewis scored a career-high 27 points as Georgetown shot 45.9%, including 9-of-21 from 3-point range, but allowed the Red Storm to make 15 of 27 from beyond the arc during the 95-83 home defeat.
Georgetown has yielded a combined 48 percent shooting during its two Big East losses.
"We just got to be better at accepting the challenge one-on-one, and as a team, collectively," said Lewis, who averages a team-leading 15.2 points.
"All five guys got to be on the same page when we're on the floor, offensively and defensively."
Georgetown's Malik Mack has averaged 17.3 points in those three Big East games. However, he totaled nine in the last two meetings with DePaul a year ago.
