Dez Bryant May Have Shoved His Own Mother [Update]
The Cowboys receiver turned himself in yesterday after police obtained a warrant on a family violence charge. That's all either side is saying right now, but ESPNDallas is reporting that the incident involved Bryant's mother:
A source said late Monday night that Bryant, in an argument with his half brother, wound up pushing his mother, Angela. According to the source, police responded to a call on Saturday night, but no arrests were made at that point. Further examination of the reports resulted in Monday's arrest, the source said.
Update, 1:15 p.m. EDT: ESPNDallas now cites the police report, which says that Bryant "he slapped his mother's face with a baseball cap and pulled her hair."
Update, 2:45 p.m. EDT:: The Star-Telegram has the 911 call:
The mother of Dallas Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant can be heard telling friends that her son "tried to kill me" and that she's going to "put an end to it today."
Angela D. Bryant told police that her son hit her across the face with a ball cap, pulled her hair, tore her shirt and bra, and repeatedly struck her hands and wrists when she tried to push him away, records released Tuesday by the DeSoto Police Department reveal.
Oh that Angela Bryant, always causing trouble. Actually, Dez has to be the most in-trouble/not-in-trouble NFL player going. Counting just the last year, he's been accused of owing $600,000 for tickets and jewelry, $246,000 for more jewelry, and $50,000 on an unpaid loan. He's been kicked out of a mall after an altercation with security over the height of his waistband. He got into a fight at a club with Lil Wayne's posse. That's an awful lot of run-ins without actually getting arrested. Until yesterday, anyway.
