Dingy Goon Matthew Dellawhatever Is Giving Up Coffee Before Games
After being hospitalized for dehydration when Game 3 ended, War Boy with hair Matthew Dellavedova says he’ll skip his usual tradition of having coffee before a game and during halftime, because he thinks it might be affecting his on-court performance.
Via ESPN:
“There will be no coffee tonight,” Dellavedova said after Cavs shootaround Thursday. “It’s not a good thing, probably, for your hydration.”
Dellavedova’s coffee kick is so ingrained in the Cavs’ team fabric that, on occasion, injured center Anderson Varejao will go fetch him a cup and bring it to him in the locker room before tipoff.
Coffee as a pregame drink in the NBA isn’t a novel ritual: Darrell Armstrong, Toni Kukoc, and Luigi Datome all enjoyed it. Dellavedova’s just decided to abstain in the most important games of his season. Then again, if he sucks tonight, maybe he’ll go back to drinking it.
