Kansas City received right-handed pitching prospect Carlos Duran in exchange.
The two-time defending World Series champions pried two-time Cy Young Award winner Tarik Skubal away from the Detroit Tigers over the weekend, in a deal that was made official Sunday.
Named an American League All-Star in 2025, Bubic is 3-2 with a 4.11 ERA through nine starts in his seventh season with the Royals. He is currently on the 60-day injured list, sidelined since mid-May with elbow and shoulder issues.
Bubic would give the Dodgers as many as 10 starting pitchers down the stretch, including three projected to return from injury before the end of the regular season. Bubic did pitch in 27 games out of the bullpen in 2024 when he had a 2.67 ERA.
Bubic, who turns 29 next month, is 22-38 with a 4.14 ERA in 126 career games (89 starts) with Kansas City. He has struck out 495 batters and walked 216 in 522 innings.
Duran, 25, went 3-2 with two saves and a 3.38 ERA in 37 games (two starts) this season for Triple-A Oklahoma City.
