Dodgers place OF Jason Heyward (back) on 10-day injured list
The Los Angeles Dodgers placed outfielder Jason Heyward on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday because of lower back tightness.
The move is retroactive to Saturday.
In a corresponding move, the Dodgers added outfielder Taylor Trammell to the roster.
Heyward, 34, had missed two games because of the back injury, with manager Dave Roberts saying that scans done Monday all "came back negative." He had three hits and two RBIs in 14 at-bats over four games this season.
A five-time Gold Glove winner and National League All-Star in 2010, Heyward re-signed with the Dodgers in the offseason to a one-year contract worth $9 million.
Heyward is in his 15th season in the majors, playing for the Atlanta Braves (2010-14), St. Louis Cardinals (2015), Chicago Cubs (2016-22) and Dodgers. He won a World Series with the Cubs in 2016. He is a career .258 hitter with 174 home runs and 683 RBIs in 1,707 games.
Los Angeles had claimed Trammell, 26, off waivers on Tuesday after the Seattle Mariners designated him for assignment on Thursday. He was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City and activated on Wednesday.
Trammell batted .168 with 15 homers and 39 RBIs in 116 games over three seasons with the Mariners (2021-23).
