The Kansas City Royals (49-71) and Los Angeles Dodgers (71-48) meet in the second installment of a three-game interleague series at Dodger Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 10:10 p.m. ET.

The Royals put up a good fight on Monday night, scratching and clawing into the late innings. It tied the game 5-5 at the seventh-inning stretch, but the Dodgers were able to plate a run in the bottom of the seventh to hang on for the win as gigantic favorites. The Over (7) also easily cashed.

Kansas City 1B Jac Caglianone had himself a night, going 2 for 4 with a home run and three RBI, while CF Kyle Isbel surprised out of the nine-hole with a homer and two runs driven in.

Los Angeles saw DH Shohei Ohtani do his thing at the top of the order, going 2 for 4 with a double, two runs scored, an RBI and a stolen base to set the table, while 1B Freddie Freeman collected three singles and two RBI in his four at-bats. 3B Max Muncy had a double and three RBI.

It wasn’t pretty for the Dodgers, as they shouldn’t be struggling with a cellar-dweller like the Royals, but that’s where we are with Los Angeles these days. It has been going through it, going just 2-8 in the past 10 games, so Dodger Blue will take any victory it can get at this point. It’s inexplicable, as the team is stacked from top to bottom, and it just added LHP Tarik Skubal to the front of the rotation.

Our Current Best Offers

The Under is 3-1 in the past four games, but perhaps the 6-run outburst Monday for L.A. is a sign of things to come. It is still averaging just 3.5 runs per game (RPG) in 10 August contests.

Los Angeles improved to 27-16 in interleague play, and despite all of the trials and tribulations, it still has a comfortable 7.5-game lead in the National League West. The Dodgers are a healthy 34-23 at home, too.

Kansas City shouldn’t be much more than a speed bump. It is just 20-41 on the road, and it has a minus-111 run differential, third-worst in the majors. The Royals are also 17-20 vs. NL.

LHP Blake Snell (elbow) comes off the 60-day injured list, so there is concern about rust, and a possible pitch restriction. However, the Royals are also just 9-25 against left-handed starting pitchers, the worst mark in the majors.

Let’s back the DODGERS -1.5 (-120) on the run line, hoping that Snell’s elbow is sound, his stamina is good, and the offense is here to stay. We’ll also lean high on the total, going OVER 8.5 (-104).
