Dutch Gymnast Nearly Knocked Out By Fall From High Bar
Image credit: [object Object] Football is not the only sport with the potential for head injuries. During podium training at the 2017 World Championships in Montreal, Dutch gymnast Bart Deurloo—the same gymnast who hit his groin on the pommel horse at the American Cup back in March—fell from the high bar after a crazy release move attempt. He stayed down on the mat for a few moments before getting up. Still, he seemed to be struggling even after he stood up.
In an interview in the mixed zone after the training session, Deurloo was asked about the crash. He said:
“I think I blacked out a little bit. I don’t remember, did I hit the ground? I remember that I didn’t catch it...I think it’s okay. I have a little bit headache. It’s nothing big or anything. All of the doctors came to me and asking what’s wrong.”
He added that he was able to do all of his floor tumbling passes after the fall, which he didn’t believe would’ve been possible had he had a concussion.
