Ender Inciarte's Home-Run Robbery Was So Good It Fooled The Phillies Announcer
Braves center fielder Ender Inciarte covered a tremendous amount of ground to get to a Scott Kingery home run attempt in tonight’s Atlanta-Philly game. And even after he got to the wall in left-center, he had to stretch himself as high as possible to snag the long fly ball.
It was an incredible play, as evidenced by the (lack of) reaction in the Phillies’ broadcast booth. Inciarte’s catch was unbelievable enough that Philadelphia announcer Tom McCarthy even brought out a home run call. He declared the out “Gone!” as Inciarte made the spectacular grab, and didn’t even notice his mistake until the robber was throwing his prize back to the infield.
That’ll teach you all not to underestimate the Atlanta Braves.
