Bengals RB Jeremy Hill Says The 6-3 Browns Are Still Bad
Holy crap, the Browns are at the top of their division (tied with the Steelers). They beat the Bengals 24-3 last night to improve to 6-3, their best start since football returned to Cleveland in 1999. Hoyer the Destroyer! An impressive defense! Josh Gordon's coming back soon! But Bengals running back Jeremy Hill, after the game, wasn't that impressed.
Via Coley Harvey of ESPN:
Asked whether the Browns were better than he previously thought, Hill said, "Oh no, not at all. They're probably worse than I thought, to be honest with you."
[...]
"They didn't do anything special to me," Hill continued. "I mean, respect to them, they won the game. But that's all I'll give them."
Hill explained himself later:
"Those guys, they're not that good," he said. "It was on us [Thursday]. We gave them the game, in my opinion. They didn't do anything special. We just gave them the game. They just sat back with coverage the whole day."
Andy Dalton threw three picks, and Hill lost a fumble, so when he says the Bengals beat themselves, he's not totally wrong. The Browns' offense wasn't dazzling everyone, either; they simply ran the ball 48 damn times with Ben Tate, Isaiah Crowell, and Terrance West against a Cincinnati defensive line that's easy to torch right now.
The AFC North rivals meet again in Week 15, so the Browns have another opportunity to convince Hill that this victory wasn't a fluke.
