Is Mike Rice Really Coaching 12-Year-Old Girls Now?
Earlier today, Brian Geltzeiler, founder of hoopscritic.com, tweeted that former's Rutgers' men's basketball coach Mike Rice was coaching 12-year-old girls in an AAU game held in New Jersey today.
To jog your memory, Mike Rice was fired on April 3 when Rutgers' former director of player development, Eric Murdock, released a tape to reporters that showed Rice verbally and physically abusing college players, pushing, kicking and throwing balls at his team and calling them, among other things, "cunts," "fairies," and "faggots." And not only is Mike Rice coaching, to hear Geltzeiler, but he's still acting fucking insane.
No way, right? Right? Is it possible these girls and their parents have no idea what 's been going on in their own backyard? At the moment, these are just tweets, so take them with a grain of salt. If you've seen or have pictures/video of Rice coaching AAU girls, though, please give us a shout.
UPDATE: Mike Rice is indeed coaching 12-year-old girls and that is somehow not the most shocking thing about this whole story. A source told SNY that the parents are completely on board with Mike "'cunts,' 'sissy bitches' and 'fucking faggots'" Rice coaching their daughters.
“The Deadspin report is a gross misrepresentation of the facts,” a source close to the AAU team told SNY.tv. “The team’s parents are fully behind Coach Rice and his instruction of their daughters.”
Just so we're clear, the bullying asshole who physically and mentally abused his own players while on camera and was subsequently fired is coaching 12-year-old girls. It is gross, that's for sure.
