The Cardinals Lost Their 22nd Game
Photo: [object Object] The Chicago Cubs scored six runs in the first inning and never looked back as they drubbed the St. Louis Cardinals Tuesday, 12-3.
Cardinals starter Michael Wacha threw 94 pitches in four innings of work while allowing eight runs, eight hits, and four walks. His command was clearly off, as he threw just 55 strikes.
Wacha isn’t sure what’s wrong with him—his last three starts have lasted four innings each, with 16 total earned runs—but he doesn’t believe the problem’s physical. From the St. Louis Post-Dispatch
I feel like I’m on time for an inning, two innings, then something gets out of whack. I don’t know if I’m trying too hard. I’ve got to continue to work. I feel strong. I feel good. The arm feels great. The body feels good.
The Cubs’ starter had a much smoother outing. Jason Hammel allowed one earned run over 7 1/3 innings as he picked up his sixth victory of the season.
The Cubs picked up their 30th win of the season. The Cardinals are blessed to be in the same division as the Cincinnati Reds and Milwaukee Brewers this season.
There’s always the next game!
