Titans Trade First Overall Pick To Rams For A Buttload Of Picks
The Tennessee Titans have traded the first overall pick of the NFL Draft to the Los Angeles Rams. In return, they got so many picks.
Peter King broke the news this morning, and the team released a statement a few minutes later. The breakdown:
The Titans have agreed to trade the No.1 pick of the draft to the Los Angeles Rams for the 15th overall pick in this year’s draft, two second-round picks (43 and 45), and a third-rounder (76) in 2016. The Titans will also receive the Rams’ first-round pick in 2017, along with their third-round pick in next year’s draft.
In addition to Tennessee’s No.1 pick this year, the Rams will also receive a fourth-round pick (113) and sixth-round pick (177) in 2016.
The Titans have a promising quarterback in Marcus Mariota, so a trade down wasn’t out of the realm for them, if the price was right. The Rams offered a haul, and Tennessee jumped on it. That’s a total of two first-rounders, two second-rounders, and two third-rounders for the Titans. Meanwhile, the Rams can make their Los Angeles debut by drafting rookie QBs Carson Wentz or Jared Goff, either of whom would be much more exciting—but not automatically better than!—Case Keenum or Nick Foles.
