As of this week, St. Louis is a two-sport town. Both of those franchises were represented at the puck drop for last night’s Blues-Hurricanes game, offering a show of solidarity, but the fans added a little extra message of their own for the owner of their former football team.
Blues owner Tom Stillman (wearing a Cardinals jacket) and Cardinals president Bill DeWitt III (wearing a Blues jacket) dropped the puck before St. Louis’s 4-1 loss to Carolina. It was no accident, not after Rams owner Stan Kroenke crapped on the city’s ability to support its teams in his application to move to Los Angeles, calling St. Louis “not a three team professional market.”
“I think what we’re trying to convey is that the Blues and the Cardinals are united in their commitment to the St. Louis community and to preserving professional sports in St. Louis,” Stillman said.
Kroenke, who does indeed suck, has tried to portray himself as the victim in all of this. I hope this doesn’t give him a complex.
