Mandatory Credit: Matt Blewett-Imagn Images The Chicago Fire boosted their offensive potential Friday by signing 2024 All-Star Robin Lod to a free-agent contract.
The deal runs through June 30, 2028, the team announced.
Lod, 32, arrives in Chicago after midfielder Brian Gutierrez was moved to Chivas in Mexico on a reported $5 million transfer.
In seven seasons with Minnesota United, Lod scored a franchise-best 41 goals with 28 assists in 185 appearances across all competitions. He has added six goals and 12 assists in 83 matches with the Finland national team.
"We are excited to welcome Robin to Chicago," Fire director of football and head coach Gregg Berhalter said. "He is a team player and proven winner with a track record of goal contributions at every club throughout his career."
"As we continue to improve our squad in the offseason, Robin will make us more competitive in 2026 and beyond."
Chicago also has added Swedish midfielder Anton Saletros in November and South African defender Mbekezeli Mbokazi earlier this month.
