Flyers, Maple Leafs swap goaltenders and defensemen

The Toronto Maple Leafs acquired goaltender Samuel Ersson, defenseman Emil Andrae and a third-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft from the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday.

In exchange, the Flyers received goaltender Joseph Woll and defenseman Simon Benoit.

Ersson, 26, was 14-11-5 with a 3.12 goals-against average and an .870 save percentage in 2025-26. In four seasons with Philadelphia, he was 65-50-17 with seven shutouts, a 3.01 GAA and an .884 save percentage.


Andrae, 24, recorded 13 points (two goals, 11 assists) in 61 games last season. The 2020 second-round pick tallied 20 points (three goals, 17 assists) in 107 games since making his Flyers debut in October 2023.

Woll, 27, went 15-16-7 with two shutouts, a 3.34 GAA and an .898 save percentage in 2025-26. In five seasons with Toronto, he was 63-43-9 with four shutouts, a 2.94 GAA and a .906 save percentage.

Benoit, 27, recorded six assists and 41 penalty minutes in 73 games last season. He has recorded 36 points (six goals, 30 assists) in 352 career games with the Anaheim Ducks (2021-23) and Maple Leafs.
